Has redundancy confirmed your worst fear?

Redundancy is a blow no matter how established you are in your career or how secure you are in yourself.

But what if it confirms your worst fear?

You know the one, because it keeps resurfacing no matter how many times you get praised or get a payrise or promotion.

You say it in your head but rarely out loud.

You’re not good enough.

Yep that’s it. The fear that you’re just one moment away from being found out for being the fraud you are.  You’ve been terrified that everyone will find out that you don’t really know what you’re doing.  It’s why you work twice as hard as everyone else, prepping presentations into the wee small hours; answering emails before you’ve even got out of bed; and rehearsing conversations and meetings in your head for days before they happen.

You’ve managed to pull it off until now. Or you thought you had. But now you’re being made redundant.

And no matter how many times they tell you “it’s the role that’s being removed, it’s no judgement on you” that’s not how it feels. Because you believe you’re not good enough.

And as you try to plan your future by reviewing your CV, looking at job adverts and reaching out to your network, the voice in your head gets louder and louder

YOU’RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH

It’s going to affect everything you do.

  • Every decision you make – whether to apply for that job or not.
  • The way you write your CV – the language you use will betray your lack of confidence
  • How you show up in an interview – you will undersell your own achievements
  • The salary you ask for if you do get offered the job – your gratitude at being offered it will cost you

YOU’RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH

You’ve probably held this belief for as long as you can remember but you’ve managed to keep it under wraps (just about).  If you’ve been in the same organisation for a long time you’ve masked it with your knowledge of the company; with the network of people you’ve built around you so that you’ll always know someone to ask if you don’t know the answer; with the respect others give you for your longevity there; and with the thought that people are ‘too nice’ to call you out if you’re wrong about something.

So the prospect of starting somewhere else is absolutely terrifying. Because if you believe you’re not good enough and that the only reason you’ve survived so far is because you’ve been there for ages then that one thing will be taken away from you when you move organisations. And there’s nothing you can do to change that.

So what can you change?

You can change that belief.

Read that again.

YOU CAN CHANGE THAT BELIEF.

After all, it’s just a belief. A strongly held one. One that it probably feels like you can’t change. But you’ve held strong beliefs before and changed them.

Think about the beliefs you held as a child.

Did you believe in Father Christmas? Or the Tooth Fairy?

Maybe as a teenager you believed you’d never go to university? Or find someone who loved you?

But you don’t hold those beliefs anymore do you?

It’s the same with this belief. It can be changed.

As an NLP Coach I’ve seen time and time again the difference that changing a belief makes to a person.  It’s like a weight has been lifted from them and they feel more balanced, more capable and more free to make choices without the constant pressure of self-doubt and overthinking.

In just 90 minutes I can help you root out that old belief and replace it with something new and uplifting. A belief that supports you and gives you a deeply-held certainty that you ARE good enough.

  • Good enough to apply for that role at the next level.
  • Good enough to ace the interview.
  • Good enough to negotiate the salary you know you deserve.

YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH.
